Kimbo Slice, also known as Kevin Fegurson, was one of the many fighters whose contracts were recently purchased by Strikeforce.
Kimbo’s huge ability to draw fans to the sport, earned mainly through the videos on the internet which show him mauling people in street fights, placed him as in main events fights from the start of his mixed martial arts career.
His last few matches have shown that he has stuff work on in his game especially if he is going to compete against the world’s top tier fighters. The thing I like about Kimbo is the fact that he seems to be a pretty humble guy in his interviews and readily admits his weaknesses.
Whether he fights for Stikeforce or some other organization, I’m looking forward to seeing him fight again. If he takes the proper steps, trains hard to round out his game and is released from some of the pressures he must have had at Elite XC, he may be able to work his way up the ladder or at the very least give us some great fights in the future.
Good luck to him.

i think its sad when kimbo gets so much reconigtion , alot of more accomplished and talented fighters out there get none,
even having this discussion makes me ill why cant all the news go to accutal fighters..
I must admit that i was not a fan of Kimbo Slice. I now look at things in a different light, and see Kevin doing something that most only think about or even dream about. I will be the first one to step up and say I will not judge a book by it’s cover!
Kimbo is terrible, he got dropped by the weakest shot on the chin. Hes bad for the sport, he gives mma the reputation it has about street fighters etc.
He will get dominated by any decent BJJ guy, just like Houston did.
Too one-dimensional. Given his age / abilities, not sure he has the time to learn enough to ever make it to top-10.
I will say I am impressed that he did got get into the sport thinking he could dominate just because of his accomplishments “on the street”… he put in his time at the gym under Bas Rutten, still alot of room for improvement, but he seems to admit that as well
I see no reason for them to pay him a quarter million dollars after getting dropped by a jab.
If he’s serious about MMA and willing to work for less. why not?
But I don’t see Strikeforce being silly enough to try and use him as the company’s face right away, Coker seems like a smart guy.

Great posts guys..I think if he wants to become a champion in MMA, he might have to take a few steps back, fight for much lower pay and fight guys with similar mma experience.
If he can build his way up from the bottom I’m sure he could earn respect from the fight fans.
Kimbo’s a flash in the pan in my opinion! In 3 years time you won’t even hear his name mentioned anymore..he will go back to doing security for the porn industry.
He still looks like a street brawler in the cage. His style is still a little unorthodox but I must agree slightly with Jeff, with the right attitude and rounding out his game to become a more complete fighter in his weight class he will need to develope a ground game and become a little more fluid with his movement around the ring he is a very flatfooted fighter
DO you know if kimbo slice is coming back to MMA
It sounds like he wants to fight, just not sure where he will be doing it. I believe he is still waiting to see if he gets picked up by strikeforce.
he suffers from what i call hulk hogan syndrome, that being he’s not very good but he puts people in the seats and EliteXC really played off that too. that being said he has a long way to go before he will be an actual contender, he should take less pay and fight some less known people and actually get some real fights.
tho what was said about him being humble is true, he always seems pretty humble and respectful. so at least he’s got the beginnings of a good mma fighter
I think Kimbo has potential, and as long as promotions stop plugging him as the next best thing, I think he’ll be fine. Like anyone new to the sport he needs time to develop. I think it’s highly unfair to write this guy off so early.
